Q: Tell us what your role is here at DEF, and briefly explain what it is you do day-to-day?
A: “Senior Design Engineer, undertaking and overseeing/advising others undertaking the designs for Fire Detection & Alarm Systems.“
Q: What inspired you to pursue the career you have today?
A: “Job evolution; progressing from a hands on electrical installations further into fire alarm installations and then further into estimating and designing fire detection and alarm systems.“
Q: What do you enjoy most about your role at DEF?
A: “The practical and in depth detailed implementation of designing a functional detection and alarm system in a 3D environment (together with the associated supporting documentation) for major infrastructure projects.“
Q: What is working at DEF like?
A: “One of the best companies that I have ever worked for in nearly 40 years of employment, with a team of people whom are not only very friendly and approachable, but have the same shared values in not only making the company an enjoyable place to work, but with a shared passion to work towards the same goal in providing the best service and experience for our clients.“
Q: Describe DEF in 3 words.
Q: In terms of successes, which accomplishments are you most proud of?
A: Expanding and developing the original initial project concept 2D plan layouts methodology of working/designing into developing design methods utilizing and working in a real world 3D environment.
Q: When you are at work, how do you motivate yourself?
A: The enjoyment in the type of working methodology being used to perform the work being undertaken is motivation in its self 😊
Q: What might someone be surprised to know about you?
A: A keen aviator, holding a Private Pilots licence with in excess of 650 hours of accumulated flight time.
