An insight into why Dominic enjoys working for DEF-UK
Q: Tell us what your role is here at DEF, and briefly explain what it is you do day-to-day?
A: My role at DEF UK is Lead CAD Engineer, I am responsible for managing the CAD team and sharing out the workload. Ensuring the standards are maintained and keeping up with the industry developments.
Q: What inspired you to pursue the career you have today?
A: Working with CAD to develop designs and materialize concepts has always excited me. With everything in our lives becoming more digital, being a part of the digitization of the latest construction projects is really interesting.
Q: What do you enjoy most about your role at DEF?
A: The scale of the project we’re a part of is incredible. This does provide challenges but these are always enjoyable to help overcome.
Q: What is working at DEF like?
A: A very forward thinking company that is always ensuring employees are happy and have the equipment we need to complete the job. The network allows for the company to be independent but also have the support from others when required.

Q: In terms of successes, which accomplishments are you most proud of??
A: Developing the start of the BIM framework within DEF UK, allowing us to continue working within these digital environments.
Q: When you are at work, how do you motivate yourself?
A: Knowing that this project will help the UK to become more energy independent and less reliant on fossil fuels really helps motivate me.
Q: What might someone be surprised to know about you?
A: I love playing video games but would one day love to use my CAD skills to develop something and bridge my skills and my hobby together.
